Master of Design’s Prof. Mike Press will be speaking as part of the Textile Futures Research Centre (TFRC) Sustainable Textiles Research Seminar Series on Friday 25th March at Chelsea College of Art & Design, in the Lecture Theatre from 2 – 3pm.
The lecture is titled ‘HandMade Knowledge: the New Challenge for Craft’.
Mike is Research Professor at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. He has written and researched widely on design, innovation, contemporary craft and the management of creativity. Authored books include ”The Design Agenda: a guide to successful design management” and “The Design Experience”. He was a member of the selection panel for the Design Council’s Millennium Products, is a former Chair of the European Academy of Design, and a member of the editorial board of The Design Journal.
His research and writing spans three areas: design and crime, the future of craft, and co-design. He is also an experienced supervisor and examiner of PhDs in design, and has been an advocate of practice-based approaches to design research.
