Social Innovation Camp Call for Ideas with Dundee University

A word from the SI Camp team:

Ever thought of a way the Internet, the Web, and your mobile could do some good in the world? Ever wanted to start your own business? Ever wanted to meet a bunch of cool people and work on things that really matter?

Join us in the Master of Design  studio at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee University for an hour intro to Social Innovation Camp. We’ll do a quick presentation on what Social Innovation Camp is all about, then run our 40-minute ‘itch’ workshop that helps you come up with a problem you want to solve (an itch they want to scratch!) and start working on a solution to submit to our camp in Edinburgh in June.

We’ll be there at 14:00 on Friday, 15th April, Sign up here. On the day just come along the M.Des Studio, Crawford Building, University of Dundee, DD1 4HN Dundee. If you think you may get lost, meet at the reception of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (DJCAD), between 13:45-14:00 and we will to take you to the studio.

What’s this for?

From 17th-19th June 2011 at Informatics Ventures in Edinburgh we’re bringing together some of the best of the UK’s software developers and designers with those at the sharp end of social problems.

Their mission will be to turn six back-of-the-envelope ideas that could change the world into social start-ups – complete with working software, all in less than 48 hours.

Right now, we’re running a call for ideas to find six of the smartest web and mobile-based ideas to change something that matters to help build at the weekend.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen talking to people who might understand a social problem they want to solve or who have an idea they’d like to get off the ground.
