Service Design position in Scotland

Associate Service Designer £25,000 Fixed Term – 6 months Full time – 35 hours per week Glasgow   My client based in Glasgow is currently seeking an Associate Service Designer for a 6 month contract position. The key purpose of the Associate Service Designer role is to exemplify practice in service design that puts the service user at the centre. This will involve carrying out to a high quality the skills involved in service design and project management, contributing to the creation of in house solutions.  It will involve leading in particular projects in the creation of concepts, blueprints and prototypes for new services. It will also involve ensuring that these prototypes are business ready.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and promote the aims, values and progress of the organisation
  • Contribute to the reputation of my client as a leader in the area of innovation and service design
  • Be accountable for the service design element of particular projects
  • Carry out service design work effectively, including developing well specified concepts, blueprints and prototypes for services
  • Have knowledge and experience of using Service Design process.
  • Build key relationships internally and externally to take forward service design work and to support the practice of ‘open innovation’
  • Influence colleagues to take up service propositions and use service design outputs for service developments

  • Develop and capture tools and resources used in projects as shared resources.
  • Support the generation and development of ideas that have a positive impact on the organization
  • Ensure projects are concluded effectively with appropriate handover to others
  • Provide visible leadership in the area of service design and innovation
  • Be accountable and responsible for project delivery and budget
  • Develop yourself and your service design practice and support the other members of the team to maximise their effectiveness through continuous improvement

Essential:

  • Experienced in service design disciplines
  • Knowledge of creativity in relation to design practice and how it is applied in projects
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities
  • A Degree or Masters qualification in service design or in a related field of study

  Desirable:

  • Experience of practice-led design innovation and of design management/thinking and service design
  • Successful delivery of multi-stream projects
  • Supplier management experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Well versed in Microsoft Project including scheduling and resource planning
  • Able to create and understand critical path analysis, risk registers, quality assurance plans
  • Well versed in Adobe Creative Suite including; in design, illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, Acrobat, Premiere, etc
