How can visualisation of other peoples’ ideas be developed to promote new thinking for enhancing urban environments and spaces in town centres ? POSTCARDS from KIRKCALDY is a design research investigation into how we use and engage with specific urban spaces in Kirkcaldy, Fife, which is the current case study focus for the Masters of Design for Services project. A Postcard Design Method has been evolved to investigate and explore key town centre locations through comments and drawings, enabling community organisations and individuals to make suggestions and propositions for new facilities and ideas which could be developed in gap sites and potential spaces. The final creative output of the project will involve illustrating other peoples’ ideas into a comprehensive body of visual work for feedback and consultation with key supporting stakeholder groups, Kirkcaldy4All and Fife Council, which may lead to future project implementation for regeneration of urban environments within Kirkcaldy.
