The world of service provision for children and families in Lochee, Menzieshill and Charleston is complex and messy. Currently, young families have to navigate a multitude of services and sources of information, much of which is developed with providers, not users, in mind. It is not always clear who does what, why, when or for whom. Angela’s Masters project, TALKITIVE, asks how designed objects can be used to enhance the interaction between these families and service providers. Through collaboration with service consultancy Taylor Haig Foundation and Becca Lindsay, a colleague from the Masters of Design, Angela created a series of Communication Tools. These tools utilise the power of storytelling and encourage new conversations between families and service providers in Dundee. TALKITIVE is part of Totally Dundee which aims to find ways to improve public services, identify any gaps or overlaps in service provision, provide more customer centric services and to reduce expenditure.
