Untangling Clinical Environments: David Rothnie

David Rothnie’s Master of Design project came about through a casual conversation with a physiologist complaining about tangled cables and wires of an electro-cardiogram and pacemaker check machines in a hospital cardiology department.

Through observation, research and discussions with consultants, physiologists and cardiographers it became clear that it is impossible to design a solution to the problem without first considering the larger environment. The outcome of the project is a range of suggested design interventions which address hygiene, efficiency and best working practice.
